Welcome to Chomp n Chat - a passion project born from necessity. 

Let me tell you a little story ...

I had been working as a speech pathologist for 11 years, 10 of those spent running my own private practice. My waitlists were huge, I had parents phoning me in tears because they couldn't access services, I had a passion for supporting little ones on their speech and feeding journeys but my hands were tied only able to offer a 1:1 service. 

Then I fell pregnant with my daughter. 

I deep dived into all things pregnancy and birth. I am a virgo, self confessed knowledge nerd and probably the most curious cat you've ever met. So I didn't take this assignment lightly. I was an absolute sponge and tried to learn as much as I could to empower my experience. And? I had the best possible experience I could have. I was informed and educated for every decision I had to make along the journey.

And then out she came. She continued to grow and I realised that some of the 'empowerment' and parent centric approaches to her growth and development started to dwindle. I was thrust into the world of trusting the experts and leaving ALL responsibility in their hands. 

As a passionate early intervention speech pathologist and with a particular love of working closely with families, coaching parents in speech and feeding strategies, I realised that there was a HUGE gap for parents. Where was the empowerment and knowledge sharing in this space?!

Cue from offstage (laying dormant and dusty) - Chomp n Chat. A community fuelled education platform that aims to put the joy back into the parenting and helping to raise happy, healthy little talkers. 

When I'm not busy teaching, sharing and working with my little humans in the clinic - you can find me in the beautiful South West of WA likely off exploring a bush track with my family, in the kitchen making something that features either kale or peanut butter, or you will find me nerding out with a book or podcast. I'm a full time, non stop and forever student of life. 

I love learning and sharing and hearing peoples' stories.

As an honourary Chomp n Chatter, you are part of a fantastic community. My inbox and messages are full of parents who have done the hard yards, navigating therapy systems, diagnoses, obstacles and have seen their fair share of triumphs too (which will find me wholeheartedly cheerleading from the side lines). I am passionate about sharing their stories. There is so much power and value in connection and storytelling, and this little corner of the web is trying its best to do just that.
